Happy October!

I wanted to share some apps we have been using in our Ipad Lab experience days.  The focus has primarily been on Math, so if you have an ipad or similar, try to see about using these at home.

Pattern Blocks
Little Writer
Hungry Fish
seussville  (on the Smartboard) doing shape games

This week we finish up our unit on The 3 Bears.  We have focused a lot of time on sizing big, medium and small along with the color blue.  We started sound discrimination and talking about same and different.  A cool thing to do is to put different, but similar items out and ask how they are the same and how they are different.  This is better than any other worksheet!

We have been counting and writing numbers 1-5.  This is differentiated in the afternoon based on your child's skill level.  If they can count and write the numbers, we are learning to write the words one-five along with the color words. If you want to practice at home, give them a die and have them roll then write.  They love that!

In Religion we have been discussing ways to be kind.  Their homework has been to practice kindness at home and share different things with me the next day.  They really love to hug and kiss their parents!

We had a second scientist who taught us about vibrations using a yogurt cup ear phone! Photos coming soon.  We started talking about corn this week along with the farming and usage aspects .  Next week we will move on to Nocturnal animals.  Please be sure to ask them about things they are learning.  They really are retaining.  I love hearing them tell me that their apples are brown because of oxadation (oxidation) lol.  They get it!

Finally, Please be sure to hand in the new field trip form for Sonny Acres coming up on Oct. 23.  We do need chaperones, so indicate that on the trip as well.  We have 2 buses, so we can accommodate many.

I will post some new photos in the next couple of days.  I hope you all enjoy the new crisp sunshiney weather we are experiencing.

Until next time....
TB
