Apples all around us!

I am sure you have heard all about our apple unit thus far.  We have discussed the life cycle, painted with apple scents in our paints, created apples, created a class favorite apple graph, read a bunch of books and so much more.  THIS Thursday we are making apple sauce in the room.   This unit also allowed me to introduce FICTION and NON FICTION!  They are quickly understanding the difference between the 2 and some can even point to a book and tell me which it is.  Please practice that at home as well.

We are finishing our unit on Little Red  Riding Hood.  We looked at many versions from different parts of the world.  We compared and talked a lot about SAME and DIFFERENT.  They also were introduced to A and B.  We are practicing writing and saying their sounds.  Try to have them look for A and B words in books and point them out.    Next week we will start The 3 Bears!

We have just started writing number 3 this week.  The children should be practicing writing the numbers at home.  If they have mastered that, feel free to have them practice the word for the number.  We are learning the name, the symbol and the representation all simultaneously.

We are talking a lot about friends. Please remind them we are all friends and their is no need for "best friends" just yet.  We are all friends here to learn and we need to be respectful of each other and each other's work.

FINALLY GERMS! yuck! I know.  Lots of illness already.  We have had and continue to talk about hands out of the mouth and wash hands good.  Please help them remember this at home.  I would hate for anyone to get all the yuckies that are going around.

Until next week....
Mrs. Boyle
